Tuckfield Oval Nature Playground - East Fremantle

Updated: Jul 9

Tuckfield Oval sits above the Rainbow Sea Containers on Fremantle's Cantonment Hill. It is accessible by road off Tuckfield Street or you can access it by foot from the East Fremantle foreshore by crossing Canning Highway.

The playground is a modern nature playground featuring a double sized rope climbing web, obstacle course style, rope based climbing frames, a tyre swing and a giant hill with rock climbing holds.

There is a lovely landscaped area with a balancing log feature.

The park has a large grassed area perfect for running around or kicking the footy.

As the playground is situated high above Canning Highway it provides fantastic views across the Swan River to North Fremantle, up the River towards Point Preston and down river where you can see the large cranes of Fremantle Harbour.

The site has Aboriginal and European historical significance and this is reflected in some interpretive signage.

There is parking at the playground along with barbeques, a drink fountain and picnic tables. There are no toilets, with the closest being at The Kiosk Fremantle which is below the Sea Containers and involves crossing busy Canning Highway.

We discovered Tuckfield Oval Parkland as part of our East Fremantle Riverside Walk and again when exploring East Fremantle Heritage and Art. Click on links to read all about our adventures.

In the spirit of reconciliation Out and About- Family Nature Connection acknowledges the traditional owners of the Wadjak boodjar (Perth land) and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders past and present and emerging and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
