Lake Fresca is located in the Italian themed Bridges community in Ellenbrook off Milano Parade and Ponte Vecchio Boulevard. As a suburban park there is no street side parking around the park but you can use the small carpark at the retail precinct off Ponte Vecchio Boulevard. This is also where you will find the beautiful (and accurate) sundial tower, picnic benches and a fully fenced playground. There are no toilet facilities.
Near the playground is the main blue bridge crossing from the sundial to the roman themed garden with it's decorative structures and paving which provide a point of interest for the kids. This area is a popular wedding venue.
From the gardens a bridge takes you across to Perry Island which is planted with pine trees to acknowledge the importance the Gnangara Pine Plantations had on early Perth development. Dick Perry, for whom the island is named, was heavily involved with WA forestry including the Gnangara Pine Plantation. He spent two years walking through a medieval pine forest in Portugal to find 85 suitable pine trees from which he took shoots which were then grafted onto trees in the plantation to produce clones of the original Portugese trees. If exploring the island take care as there may be broken glass around.
From the Island you can cross to the southern shore over another bridge and either return to the playground or loop around the lake. The loop around the lake is less than a kilometre and is suitable for kids on bikes or scooters and would be a nice walk with elderly relatives.
There are grassy areas to throw down a rug for a picnic or you can descend to lake level and the kids can play on the sandy beaches however the lake is not safe for swimming. When water levels drop over summer it can be a little unpleasant and can host mosquitos.

We pay our respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
